Andrew Galdi honed his artistic skills from an early age.  His talent for drawing led him to study illustration and painting at both Penn State University and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.  Over the years, Andrew developed a strong interest in Asian arts and culture which opened opportunities for new areas of study.

Today, Andrew works in the Chinese style of ink and watercolor painting.  He is a student of Hengyi Aixinjueluo, a native of Bejing, China and a descendant of the royal family of the Qing Dynasty.  Andrew has studied with Hengyi for eight years, working toward achieving the level of master painter.

Since neither teacher nor student speak the other’s native language, Andrew must study the techniques without verbal instruction.  He has overcome the language barrier by learning visually, concentrating on details such as brush orientation and pressure.  As a result, his paintings capture more of the spirit of his subjects.
